Decorate your Christmas tree with these cute vinyl gingerbread ornaments. These ornaments mimic the intricate icing designs on gingerbread cookies.

Okay, confession time. Although I’m pretty crafty, I’m absolutely horrible at icing cookies.

But these vinyl gingerbread ornaments make up for that fact. Aren’t they cute?

I love the simple, graphic look of these ornaments.

Vinyl Gingerbread Ornaments

Supplies Needed:

• Vinyl
• Ornament blanks (trees, balls, hearts)
• Craft paint (tan)
• Paintbrushes
• Cricut (I used my Cricut Maker 3)
• Weeding Tools
• Transfer Tape

These ornaments look the best with white vinyl to represent the icing. Red and green also work.

By the way, I realized that this is the easiest vinyl to transfer.

The tree ornament designs fit the tree ornaments that I linked above. They may not fit other tree shapes.

Preparing the Ornaments

1. Paint the ornament blanks tan.
2. They might need two coats for full coverage.
3. Let the paint dry.
4. Flip them over and paint the other side.
5. Let the paint dry.

Cutting the Vinyl

1. Upload the file as usual.
2. If desired, ungroup the designs to recolor them for different colors of vinyl.
3. The heart design has an opening for a name or a monogram.
4. Click “text” and type your name or monogram.
5. Change the font. I used the free Cricut font, Karley.
6. Attach all of the layers to keep them in place.
7. Click Make when your design is ready.
8. Cut as usual, changing the vinyl colors as needed.

Applying the Vinyl

1. Weed the vinyl as usual.
2. Apply a piece of transfer tape to the weeded design.
3. Remove the design from the backer onto the transfer tape.
4. Place the design onto the ornament.
5. Press the transfer tape onto the ornament.
6. Remove the transfer tape.
7. If you’re having trouble getting the transferred design to stick, use the scraper tool to press as you pull the transfer tape away.
8. Smooth the vinyl as needed.
9. Add ribbons to the ornaments.
