I love paint. It’s my favorite way to make a change because it’s affordable, easy, and effective.
Painting furniture is an easy way to update a tired old piece. It can give new life and change the style of a piece of furniture that you no longer want. Painting furniture gives it new life and keeps it from going into a landfill.
Colorful painted furniture is my favorite. In a world of white and gray homes, why not add a pop of color to add interest?
Colored Painted Furniture Ideas
I’ve been painting furniture for years. Here are some of my favorite pieces that I’ve painted over the years.
These are some of my favorite painted furniture pieces over the years.
Red and Pink Furniture
Red isn’t usually my go-to color, so I paired it with white to make it less intense. You can read about this dresser makeover here.
I updated this IKEA besta cabinet with a bold coral paint color. I loved how bold this color was in my old dining room.
This is one of the oldest photos on my blog, so forgive the quality. While this isn’t my style anymore, I still love the bold pink stripes. This dresser lived in my daughter’s room for years.
Yellow Furniture
This little washstand was so sweet with its yellow and white paint scheme. The yellow was so soft and not too bright.
Green Furniture
This green dresser is one of my favorite pieces that I have ever painted. Its wooden keyholes were so pretty.
I don’t have a post about this piece because it sold so quickly. It’s a vintage record cabinet that I painted with some Oops paint. I left the inside wood and refreshed it with hemp oil. The color is similar to Country Chic Hollow Hill.
Aqua and Turquoise Furniture
This is another piece that I really loved. The soft aqua was so pretty. You can read about this vintage sideboard makeover here.
This piece started out as a broken dry sink. I wanted it to make sense for today’s customers, so I removed the top and gave it a fun blended chalk paint finish.
I love how bold this vintage console table turned out. It’s funny because I’ve seen this exact cabinet so many times in thrift stores since I painted this piece.
This ombre dresser was so much fun to create. It felt like a work of art.
Blue Furniture
This simple curio cabinet was my first furniture makeover on the blog, and it continues to be one of the most popular, for good reason. With the paint and wallpaper that I added, this dated cabinet that everyone’s grandma owns became a showpiece.
Side tables were always my favorite pieces to paint because they’re so quick. I still love this little pedestal table makeover.
Navy paint isn’t as bold as some of the other colors, but it’s one of my favorites. This console table turned out so pretty with the navy paint and the refinished wood top.
Purple Furniture
I painted this lilac dresser when I updated my daughter’s room. I used a blended chalk paint technique to create this subtle color shift.
Writing this post makes me want to find a piece of furniture to paint. It’s funny because I don’t currently own any painted furniture pieces, but now I really want some again. Guess I’ll have to hit the thrift stores for some small pieces to paint.
