Sneak Peek: Daughter’s Room

Sharing is caring!

Sometimes life gets in the way of getting stuff done. Last week was one of those times. I started out with the best intentions, but I didn’t get much done. I suffer from sinus headaches in the winter. Some years are worse than others. This seems to be a bad year. In addition to a really fun sinus infection, I found out that my best friend would be moving across the country to accept a dream job near her family, very quickly. I’m having a hard time coping with my emotions. I’m so happy for her and so sad for me. She left this morning to drive across country. I’m allowing myself one more day of moping, and then I will finish up my daughter’s room and get it photographed. Right now, I only have minor things to do, like hang art and curtains. I don’t have it in me today though. I can be awesome tomorrow. But not today. Today, I have a few sneak peek pictures, taken on my phone. The quality was bad on some, so I made them smaller pictures.

The built in bookcases, before caulking and filling holes.

This is the same part of the bookcase, primed. The leg in the bottom right corner is the desk leg, upside-down. It needed to be painted like this before I could install it.

The other side of the built-ins, also primed. Everything was still in the center of her room at this point, so I was working in a very narrow space.

All painted and filled with toys.

It was fun organizing her book collection, by series and author. Her favorites are placed together. She used a pillow for a cushion before I made the real cushion. She was eager to get caught up on her reading.

A sneak peek of the canopy. I’m pretty excited about how this turned out. Tutorial to come, hopefully in the next few days.
